At the beginning of 2024, Alex attended the TG Consulting and Liverpool John Moores University Assessment Centre Experience. This experience pushed Alex outside her comfort zone, and she took the initiative to speak with Tonia about the available internship opportunities. Six weeks later, Alex has successfully completed her internship with us at TG Consulting. Alex has demonstrated excellent copywriting skills and a willingness to learn, and she has been brilliant throughout! We are so proud of her accomplishments and excited to share her experiences. I’ve had the pleasure of spending the past six weeks learning and developing my skills with TG Consulting as a project intern. Working closely with Kirsty, but also the wider team, I got the chance to work on some exciting upcoming projects, as well as get an idea of all the work that goes on behind the scenes in all areas of the business.
Tonia came to speak as a guest lecturer at my university last autumn, talking about the doors internships can open for you. I got the chance to have a chat with her at the end of the talk and discuss the opportunity to work as an intern with her. I was super eager to get involved as I could already tell that TG’s philosophy was to empower and support students, which made me feel at ease about the prospect of taking on a new challenge such as an internship.
I’ve learnt a lot about the processes involved in the curation of social media posts, the planning involved as well as using a range software commonly used in the marketing industry. Not only that, I have also learned a lot about myself and my ability to take on new tasks in my stride, as well as growing in confidence throughout my time at TG.
Kirsty has been great at encouraging me to step out of my comfort zone and try my hand at lots of new tasks I hadn’t been given the responsibility to carry out before, such as copywriting and creating posts for socials on Canva. While this seemed a little daunting, I was given so much support that I felt super comfortable asking for help if I didn’t understand a task.
My personal career goals which I discussed with Tonia were to gain experience specifically in social media marketing and event planning, so I was really pleased I got to focus most of my time during my internship within these areas – so it’s hard to pick a favourite moment!
I’m super grateful to have had the opportunity to work with TG Consulting, and I look forward to all that’s to come!
