Final Day Thoughts from BSU intern Katie Watson

Last week marked the official end of an internship TG Consulting hosted for Bath Spa University student Katie Watson. They spent their time contributing to TG Consulting’s growing services and worked on business-critical, worthwhile projects in the form of digital content creation.

Tonia Galati, Director & Founder of TG Consulting says:

"Katie has been a fantastic addition to the team. Having joined us on a short term basis and then moving into a part-time role, Katie has made huge contributions to the work of TG Consulting over the last few months and has created some really great content. The team and I will miss Katie in our virtual space, but look forward to future opportunities to work together again."

Here is what Katie had to say about her internship experience at TG Consulting:

Katie Watson says:

“I first started at TG Consulting as part of a virtual summer internship programme through my university. At the end of my internship, I was given the amazing opportunity to extend it and become a part-time member of the team, which I am really grateful for. It’s been extremely valuable to be able to continue the development of my digital content creating skills as well as my interpersonal skills alongside my degree.

Working for an SME has definitely been one of the major highlights of my early career. The ethos that TG Consulting carry is truly inspiring, as they really do care about every employee and their needs – it does feel like a family! During work communications, I always felt so comfortable with everyone and it never felt stressful.

Working in such a safe and positive environment helped significantly boost my confidence and pushed me to share and utilise my creativity and to be more inquisitive. I was also given a lot of creative freedom and individual responsibility when it came to creating content, which allowed me to become incredibly self-sufficient.

Tonia acted as my mentor throughout the experience and supported me enormously in my achievements. Leaving this internship, I now feel a lot more confident in my technical abilities, creative initiative and working in a collaborative, professional environment.

I had the chance to learn and develop new skills such as WIX blog software, my knowledge of SEO, book chapter editing, interviewing and article writing, including having one of my first articles published in print. I also learnt insights into how a business is run and all the important mechanisms which need to take place and the importance of collaborative working.

As I leave to focus on the remainder of my final year at university, I will take all of these skills and memories with me and hope to collaborate with TG Consulting again in the future. I wholeheartedly recommend any student to intern at an SME at least once – you won’t forget it!”
